Yapı Kredi Culture and Art
Non-stop arts for fifty years
The “Transition” project that ran for eight months during the renovation of the Yapı Kredi Culture Arts Publishing Beyoğlu building consists of many live performances by Turkish and foreign artists, performance screenings and an exhibition organised at the end accompanied by a book. Transition débuted with a live performance by Ali Cherri on 1 August 2013 at 7 pm: “Give Me a Body Then”. Performance screenings that took place between 2 and 23 August at the Yapı Kredi Culture Centre included works by Bjorn Melhus, Victor Alimpiev, Lida Abdul and Harold Offeh.
The building undergoing extensive renovation at present has been the headquarters of Yapı Kredi Culture Arts Publishing since its founding in 1964. For nearly fifty years, this remarkable player in the cultural history of Beyoğlu has served culture and the arts non-stop by organising numerous exhibitions and activities from a vast array of disciplines (Andy Warhol, Semiha Berksoy, Otto Dix, PastPresentFuture, Troy and the Mysterious Women of the Bronze Age, to name but a few) and become one of the most prestigious publishers in the country.
